RenderOptimizer is LightWave © Layout master that is controlling process priority during rendering. It detects when you're starting rendering and changes priority to set by you. You can set it to 5 levels:

Lowest - rendering is done only when no other operations are done by CPU (also called idle).
Lower - rendering is done little below normal level (that's default value to make rendering machine usable during rendering f.e. nicer web browsing).
Normal - rendering is done with normal priority.
Higher - rendering is taking more CPU than avarage process.
Highest - rendering is taking whole CPU without giving anything to other processes (on some systems it can even freeze mouse pointer!).

RenderOptimizer is equivalent to opening Task Manager, going to Process tab and changing lightwav.exe process priority, but it's done all automatically, and only during rendering. You can even check RenderOptimizer priority in Task Manager!

The main purpose of this plugin is to let normal working on rendering machine without having to wait for everything (slowed down by heavy CPU usage). However you can use it on renderfarm machines that don't do anything else than rendering to take every cycle of your CPUs.

To use this plugin just add it using Add Plug-Ins, press Ctrl Q to open Layout Master window, pick up Render Optimizer from drop-down list and that's it. Since now Render Optimizer will be always started at Layout start up and working during rendering!

In order to install the program, please extract the archive to some location on your hard disk.

On Windows ®, the archive is in the ZIP format. You will need 3rd party software such as WinZIP, which you can download from http://www.winzip.com (it's not included in the package), or other compatible software to decompress the archive.

Windows XP ® has built-in ZIP support (simply right click on the archives icon, and choose Extract all files...).

On Macintosh ®, the archive is in the SIT format. You will need 3rd party software such as StuffIt, which you can download from http://www.stuffit.com (it's not included in the package), or compatible software to decompress the archive.

The LightWave ® plugin does not require files to be in specific locations, which is a very nice feature. But for easier file management it is recommended that the plugin files (i.e. those with .p extension) be copied to your LightWave ® plugins folder (f.e. LightWave\Plugins\).
